Hyoshigi is a traditional Japanese percussion instrument and is used to open kamishibai narratives, traditional theater performances, sumo wrestling, and other performances.
The sharp, bright and piercing sound rich in harmonics makes the opening of every kamishibai performance something special. They are usually hit once or repeatedly, first slowly then faster and faster.
