Let's meet around the Kamishibai in Chile

Kamishibai is an art originating in Japan, which emerged in the 1920s in the streets of Tokyo where the kamishibaiya bagpipes, candy vendors carried wooden theaters on a bicycle, on these portable stages they told short stories from the Japanese oral tradition and some own stories.

From this humble origin, the kamishibai has grown without stopping until reaching the whole world and passing from the streets to the classrooms, libraries and stages; its repertoire of stories has expanded and diversified without losing its essence.

The kamishibai or paper theater helps to revitalize oral tradition and cultural transmission, encourages a taste for reading and writing, addresses interculturality through the use of tales from different cultures, unites the richness of words with the beauty of the images, but it is not simply a reading of illustrated stories, it is "kyokan" implies feelings of mutual relationship, attachment and shared experience between the narrator, the work and the public.

The small paper theater invites us to share stories narrated out loud as a family.

We are waiting for you this January 14 and 15, 2023 at the Cultural Center of Las Condes, Apoquido #6570
